The Mighty Himalayas – The FURICO Music Team, Teth Sin & Stonerjazz

It’s a real pleasure for me to introduce this work, which has probably been the most interesting, complex and somehow challenging collaborative session I ever joined so far, at least in terms of rearrangement tasks.
It all started with an early version of a piece by The FURICO Music Team called “Mood Of Two”…

Every Minute | feat. Mizero

I am proud to introduce my first collaboration with Mizero, an artist that I deeply admire and respect. She wrote some awesome lyrics for the weird backing track I had sent to her, and her beautiful, peculiar singing inspired me to further develop the music, overdubbing a bassline and a couple of guitar parts…

Astronomy Domine – Syd Barrett cover by Teth Sin

This cover was originally planned to be a collaboration, but it has been aborted about a month ago, since my alleged collaborative partners stated that I was “unable to cooperate on the sort of creative level that they generally expect” from those who have the privilege to work with them. Being well aware of my inadequacy…

We Control Your Dream | feat. Myrh

It has been a honour and a pleasure for me to collaborate once more with Her (Vocal) Majesty Myrh on this piece, which wouldn’t make sense without her contribution. It has been produced as an entry for Sarah Megahertz‘s “Sarah’s Friends Compilation”…

The Great Conjunction

A recent astronomical event was, quite obviously, at the root of this odd musical piece. I accidentally came across a few posts on the social networks conveying a certain degree of confidence in this astrological occurrence, but I honestly couldn’t afford to share their flaunted optimism. I couldn’t recall any…

The Maestro | feat. Stonerjazz

At the end of November 2020 my friend Jeff Gardiner / Stonerjazz sent me a preview of this song he was about to release, and he was so kind to ask me if I wanted to add anything to it. We had been planning a collaboration for months, so I…

Teth Sin is an Italian musician temporarily based in Tunis (Tunisia), spontaneously blending psychedelic, [multi]ethnic, experimental, ambient, noise, industrial, electronic, blues, funk, rock and possibly more genres. Despite being primarily a guitarist, his tracks feature a variety of actual musical instruments involved in the creative process, and he makes massive use of (preferably open source) software samplers, synthesizers and sound design tools.

Teth Sin: two consonants which are observable in all Semitic graphemic-phonemic systems. As far as we know, the Phoenicians were the first humans who developed and successfully spread an alphabetic script consisting of consonant graphemes. That’s why two signs drawn from it have been chosen for this project’s logo. Another reason certainly deserves to be mentioned: Teth Sin’s earthly home is located relatively close to what remains of Carthage, a celebrated Phoenician capital city.

Teth Sin: two consonants whose Arabic graphemic realization offered inspiration to the Kitāb al-Tawāsīn, written between 9th and 10th century A.D. by the Persian Sufi martyr Abū ‘l-Muġīth Ḥusayn bin Manṣūr al-Ḥallāj. In this mystical treatise the following sentence has been stated: “I am the creative Truth because, through the Truth, I am eternal Truth”.

Teth Sin: two consonants which, according to the Kabbalah, hint at hidden light and symmetrical change, ego death and creative repetition. Of course there might be much more to say on this subject; yet it is not something to be delivered here by a few written words. This project partly aims to give expression to that missing text through music.

“How I did it”

Genesis of the Teth Sin project

I started this Teth Sin project in January 2020, not knowing exactly why. During the previous 25 years I had been experimenting and recording music on a R2R tape recorder, and subsequently on my computer, but I wouldn’t think my odd creations were worth being shared with anyone, exception made for a couple of my closest friends. On the other hand, since 2007 I had moved from Italy to Tunisia, and my primary activities wouldn’t allow me to dedicate much time to music.
Ten years later my life went through some changes, and I was able to complete a track I had been working on off and on for several months, called “Terminal“. I had recently heard a friend of mine talking about SoundCloud, so I got curious, set up an account and uploaded that tune. I quickly realized that I had nearly no listeners, as I wouldn’t listen to anyone’s stuff on that platform at the time. I subsequently uploaded a couple of other numbers, not caring much about having people listening to them.

In September 2019 I accidentally stumbled upon a Facebook post about an open source music challenge. My interest was sparked, as I had turned out to be a Linux user some seven years earlier, so I decided to try my hand at joining that context. It was about producing a song in the style of a widely known artist, but it hadn’t to be a cover. That was raising my interest, as I had been playing mostly covers with my old band for a decade or more, during the 90’s. So I quickly recorded a song called “Rainbow Brain” and sent it. It finished in third place, and I got some very positive feedback from a few people.
Shortly after that, I recorded and released another song, “That’s mean“, and it was highly appreciated by some old friends of mine in Italy. That was enough for me to think about dedicating some more of my time and energy to making music and sharing it with the world. My crazy stuff didn’t seem to sound so bad, after all. So I kept uploading other tracks to SoundCloud, and started listening to other people’s music. I was totally amazed to discover a sort of an underground music circuit there. Very soon I started dropping comments and interacting with creators from all over the world. So I decided to change my SoundCloud account name to Teth Sin, made a logo for it and set up parallel accounts on a few social networks. As most of the artists who were interacting with me used to call me Teth Sin, what was originally meant to be simply the name of this project became a sort of an artist name for me as well, and I didn’t mind that at all.

I think I did the right thing. I had so much positive feedback to my further releases, I never thought I could ever have such an amount of listeners appreciating my music. I hearty thank anyone having taken the time to listen to my tracks, let me know what they think about them and/or repost them or share them anywhere else. I’m doing it all about because music is what I love the most in the world. I’m not into “music industry” at all, I don’t really care about it and I personally think the whole thing is a disaster for the human soul. But if millions of people today have the right to spread their mainstream rap, EDM or pop inspired numbers, at least I have the right to spread my freaky sounds, and a different message as well. Yeah, actual musicians should be paid for their work, but not anyone in the world can be a musician, and music shouldn’t be considered as just another way of making money. I think it’s a sacred thing, and I’m not talking about what goes under the name of religion here. Music is spirituality, and spirituality is something totally different. I’m certainly not the only one thinking this way, and that’s somehow comforting.
More than one year has gone by. Now I’ve set up this website so I can get all of my stuff together in one place, and it will be easier for people to listen to my music, watch my videos and possibly read what I have to say about these releases of mine. Hope you all will enjoy it, and big thanks in advance to anyone who will take the time to stop by.
